IJLA Field Day
The Iowa Junior Limousin Field Day will be held June 13-14 at the Iowa State Fair grounds in conjunction with the Iowa Summer Beef Expo in Des Moines. Entry forms will be mailed out in April and are due by May 20, 2008.  The Limousin show will follow the IJBBA show Saturday afternoon. There is a second IJBBA show on Sunday as well.

Heartland Regional Limousin Show
The Heartland Regional show will be held July 11-12 in Sioux Falls, SD. Entry forms are available in the Heartbeat Magazine (Dean Summerbell 612-963-3799) or by contacting NALF at 303-220-1693. Entries are due by May 1, 2008 for a fee of $25.00.  $30.00 late entries will be taken at check-in. Entries can be mailed to NALF, Attn. Kate, 7383 Alton Way, Suite 100, Centennial, CO 80112. Cattle may arrive on Thursday, July 10 but must remain in tie-outs.

Iowa Beef Expo
A Big Thank You to everyone who helped make this year’s Iowa Beef Expo Sale a huge success! We especially appreciate those who helped with the Heartland Limousin social and the ILA chili feed. Also thanks to everyone who brought bars and cookies to share. 

Consignors once again brought out their best bulls and females to be evaluated and sold. The Champion Limousin Bull was consigned by Straight Limousin of Logan, IA. The Reserve Champion Bull was consigned by Vorthmann Limousin of Treynor, IA. The Champion Limousin Female was consigned by Hunt Limousin of Oxford, NE. The Reserve Champion Female was consigned by Scott Edwards of Corder, MO. The Champion Lim-Flex Bull was consigned by Straight Limousin and the Reserve Lim-Flex Bull was consigned by Venner Limousin of Breda, IA. The Champion Lim-Flex Female was consigned by Venner Limousin and the Reserve Lim-Flex Female was consigned by Adam and Jenelle Kline of Logan, IA.  A group of Limousin breeders gave $11,000 for a heifer donated by Vorthmann Limousin to the Heartland Limousin Assoc. The heifer was then resold and half of the proceeds were again donated to the Heartland Limousin Association. 43 Bulls averaged $2,716 and 18 Females averaged $2,355. 

In the Junior Show- Zach Greiman had the Champion Limousin Female and Jordan Straight had the Reserve Limousin Female. Ty Johnk had the Champion Lim-Flex Female and Zach Greiman had the Reserve Lim-Fex Female. James Sullivan had the Champion Limousin Steer and Amanda Lindsey had the Reserve Steer. 

Iowa State Fair 

It is never too early to be thinking about the Iowa State Fair. We will have a Limousin and Lim-Flex Show again this year. The show will be held on Monday, August 11. Entry deadline is July 1, 2008. Make sure you take a look at your calves before you turn them out to pasture to get an idea of possible show prospects and get them registered.
