A special thank you to the junior 4-H exhibitors who brought their cattle for the open show. I know it takes a lot of time and money to exhibit at the State Fair, but we really do appreciate it. We had 65 head of Limousin and 17 Lim-Flex cattle shown in the open show. Also thank you to those who brought cookies, to Roger Vorthmann for cooking the meat and to Brenda Anderson, Bev Summerbell, Amy Boyer and Mary Bosch for serving the meal on Sunday evening. Also thank you to Brewer Limousin for providing donuts and juice for everyone on show morning!! Show Results: Show A Limi – Win A Limi- Congratulations to Ashley Lewis for winning this year’s Show A Limi-Win A Limi Drawing. Butler Limousin of Lacona, IA donated the heifer this year. THANK YOU!!! Scholarships -A $250 ILA Scholarship for high school seniors and college students is available. Annual Meeting- Will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at the ICA building in Ames, IA. A detailed schedule of events will be sent out in the next newsletter. Tentative Schedule: 12:30 pm ILA Board Meeting ***Juniors be sure to get your info. on your winnings to Grant Anderson by Oct. 15 !! Forms are available from your county extension office or at www.iowalimousin.org *** If anyone would like to be nominated for the ILA Board of Directors let one of the ILA officers know. Iowa Beef Expo Limousin Sale- The Iowa Beef Expo Limousin Sale will be held on Feb. 17, 2010. We are looking for your top quality Limousin and Lim-Flex bulls and females. Please be thinking of your consignments and be getting them registered. Entry forms will be mailed out in November. ILA Photo Contest – The ILA is looking for unique photos to be used on the postcards that we have been mailing out to potential commercial bull customers. We need your help!! The ads concentrate on Limousin strengths: growth, efficiency, muscle, good mothering, etc. If you have any pictures of Limousin feedlot cattle, cow/calf pairs in pastures, bulls, etc., please e-mail them to Grant Anderson at ganderson @comm1net.net, mail them or you can bring them with you to the ILA Annual Meeting. If your photo is chosen to be used on one of the upcoming postcards, you will receive a free ILA membership for 2010!! ***Along with this, we are asking that all ILA members bring to the annual meeting a list of 10 cattlemen from their area with addresses. We will be adding these names to our postcard mailing list. The postcard advertising has been very successful this year. By adding more names to our mailing list, we will reach more potential buyers for our ILA breeders. Advertising is the best way to do this! If you are unable to attend the annual meeting, names and addresses can be given to Grant Anderson at anytime. Special Note: A huge THANK YOU to Knudt and Audrey Miller of Miller Manor Limousin for being faithful members of the ILA for many years! Just recently they have moved to Milton, Wisconsin. We wish them the best and hope they come back and visit us.
